What Happened With the TV Animation?

What Happened With the TV Animation?

Several decades ago, the best thing a person could see on the TV was the animation episodes of different shows. They were somehow fascinating even without the 3D technology, somehow amazing even without the toys in the market that look exactly like the characters in the cartoons. And what I am seeing today is a world of animation, too distant from what children need – it is a world of 3D technology where the beauty of the drawing is somehow More

Family Guy

Family Guy

The main fella that stands behind it is Seth MacFarlane, a relatively good looking man born in Kent, Connecticut. The idea of Family Guy comes from a university project. After graduating he manages to agree a contract with the giant FOX entertainments and some years later he can enjoy the benefits of being one of the most influential people in the television industry today. Sometimes called a lunatic, MacFarlane is without a doubt a genius. He manages to twist the More

Modern Movie Art

As a general rule, while developing, technology drags everything after itself – from small Import Car Business to … art. And this is what is the fascinating bit – the world of art has changed significantly with the advance of techniques and innovative approaches in the creation of art products.
Probably the most of difference we can encounter in the movie art branch – there has never been so much of enthusiasm in the cinema productions as nowadays – people More

This is England 86. The TV series.

I was one of many people who watched This is England, the amazingly moving and gritty Shane Meadow’s film that came out in 2006. It was such an impressive piece of work and I couldn’t wait for the TV series This is England 86 to start.

It’s a great idea and quite unusual I think to create a spin off series from a film using the same actors set several years down the line when they’ve all aged appropriately. More

Mock The Week

Mock The Week

There’s been a lot of chat on forums about the new series of Mock The Week and how it’s changed for the better or worse depending on your perspective with the departure of Frankie Boyle.

To be honest I think Mock The Week became a bit predictable pretty quickly but I guess having Frankie Boyle’s particular brand of humour on the show did inject an element of risk and excitement in to the programme. It’s bizarre how easily offended many More

Exhibiting For The First Time? Read This!

Exhibiting your work can be a daunting prospect. What if nobody likes my work? Should I use a printing website? What if the frames aren’t those really expensive ones and they put people off? What if people want to talk to me about the progression (we can hope) of my abstract impressionist genius masterpieces (let’s not get carried away now…)

Have no fear! Although exhibiting can, for a beginner, seem a truly More

Heroes

Heroes

Probably one of the best productions that have been released for the TV channels, Heroes is truly an interesting and fascinating science fiction show with four seasons and 77 episodes that have been broadcast so far. More recently pop up display stands have appeared in video stores worldwide advertising the show’s latest season on DVD and Blu-ray. Created and produced by Tim Kring, the show enjoys the love of the audience and, surprisingly, is one of the least criticized shows More

What an Insight

Just watched an episode in the series “The Ugly Face of Beauty”on channel 4 and was totally blown away but what the programme revealed. The programme explores the ’truth'about cosmetic surgery and reveals the side affects that can occur with every kind of cosmetic surgery.
The episode focused on Facial Fillers, which are meant to be the safer non-surgical treatment you can get, however what they do not tell you in clinics is that 1 in 3 peoples experiences with More

Aspiring artists – Reality Shock 101

posted by admin in Uncategorized

So you want to be an artist, do you? Have your pictures hung in galleries, design the logos for the vinyl packaging of all the biggest bands?

Here’s some tips on what NOT to do. So now your fresh out of grad school or making a career change you want to know how. If you just barge straight into the art world you may hit a brick wall if your going the wrong way. So when entering any field a clear sense of direction is key to finding your way and getting on the first rung of the ladder which means finding a paycheck, like it or not.

You may want to do art for arts sake as many artists do. However this is not going to pay the bills. Don’t think you will make it right away, put money down on materials, start borrowing renting gallery space, and dreaming of the millions rolling in.

So lets start with a reality shock number one.

MOST ARTISTS HAVE A “REAL” JOB. Is it an exiting real job? Is it as a graphic designer, a painters assistant, a gallery owner, a fashion designer. Read this carefully now. Usually none of the above! Here my dear fellow aspiring artists are some of the most common aspiring artist jobs I believe (thery’re about the same as one’s you might have taken up whilst studying believing such wonderful vocations would be only temporary).

Supermarket restocker – overnight (so can work in the day and not get up in the morning)

Childcare assistant/babysitter (jobs ones don’t want to do for low pay and include screaming babies but hours to suit).

Callcentre Operator/Telemarketer- Also high turnaround job. Easy to get easy to burn out, even if you do get to sit down at a desk.
